Sharon Schutz, Director

 

I'm a lifelong resident of Spring Valley / Elmwood area. I attended Spring Valley Area Schools. I'm married to Bruce and we have raised two wonderful young men. We are blessed with five wonderful grandchildren, three boys, and two girls ages 8 to 2. In 1980 I was employed at the Elmwood Head Start. During my employment at Head Start, I attended classes in early childhood education and obtained Child Development Associate Degrees for children ages birth to 3 and for children ages 3 to 5. I was employed with the Head Start Program for 21 years and wore many hats. During this time, I was the Head Teacher for ages birth to 3 for 8 years, and for the 3 to 5 year olds for 12 years. I was also the Team Leader (doing director duties) at our center for approximately 5 years. In the spring of 2001, I was offered an Assistant Director/Lead Teacher position at the Sunshine House Day Care where I had worked part-time during my summers off at Head Start. In January 2004 I was hired at the Sunshine Child Care and Learning Center as Director/Children Services. I truly have enjoyed working with children and families.
